Artistic and Creative Literacy (Reflection)
Artistic and Creative Literacy was the second to the last report that was presented. The reporters presented us how to be artistically literate and creative, literature on art education, and some of issues in teaching creativity. The reporter presented that there are some problems when incomes to gaining the student's confidence in creativity. They asked here if do schools kill the creativity of a students. We all disagreed with the question, since we all know that school must be the first one to enhance the creativity of a child through the different art activities that they are giving to the learners and the curriculum has a subject about arts. But we're wrong, sometimes there are still aspects that kills the passion and love for the arts of learners.
I have experienced in my lower years in highschool being affected with the reaction of my teacher to the art that I made. His facial expression made me a bit disappointed to my self that maybe he wasn't happy to the artwork I made. If I am disappointed back then how about those students who were experienced and heard that their arts are not that good.
We know that school is an institution where we gain development not just academically but also our talents and different skills we have. As a future educator we must reflect to this situation, we must see to it that we appreciate the artworks that our future students will do and we must keep in mind that arts came from different form, what matter is the message behind it.
